MOMS Club® of Madison - Southwest

Just a FYI: the Lil' Badger sale , a no-fee consignment sale, is this weekend (September 13-15)!  New parents and grandparents can shop a Lil' Badger pre-sale by registering at this link . The sale will be at the Monona Community Center, 1011 Nichols Road .   Saturday is half-price day. Our own Laura C. is selling some of her little one's cute clothes - check it out! A portion of the proceeds will go to Monona Parks and Recreation.   Please note that the Lil' Badger sale is cash-only and there are no strollers permitted. 

The September Membership Meeting will be Wednesday, September 5th, 9:30 AM, at GSLC on Raymond Road .  Debbie from Kindermusik will give a presentation and do a short music class, and will teach us about ways to incorporate music into our little ones' lives. One mom will even win free tuition!  This meeting is open to all current and prospective members. 

We recently went to the Allen Centennial Gardens , where the kids enjoyed a wander up and down the paths and looked for fish.  Then we met up at the Babcock Hall Dairy Store to look at milk being bottled, cheese curds being turned into cheese, and ice cream being mixed up, and everyone enjoyed some Wisconsin-made ice cream together.

Chad Kemp of the Kemp Law Firm spoke to our club about how to make provisions for our children in wills and trusts.  Some interesting points he brought up: Avoiding probate Making sure certain family members don't end up taking care of the kids Providing an older-than-18 age of inheritance for children Updating wills as circumstances change The next membership meeting will be September 5th at 9:30, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5701 Raymond Road.   Debbie will give a presentation on Kindermusik. Prospective members are welcome to join us!

The June membership meeting (open to potential members!) will be at 9:30 AM at Westmorland Park , located at 4114 Tokay Boulevard .  We will elect the new board and the kids can play at the playground!

We had an outing to Rennebohm Park to enjoy the nice May weather!  The kids played on the swings and playset, did a little tot basketball, and then had a picnic.

The wonderful firefighters at MFD Station 7 recently gave us a tour of their trucks and engines and talked to the kids about what it's like being a firefighter!  They put on their full turnout gear and showed us through the Hazmat Response Unit as well.  The kids got coloring books about fire safety and their own "Junior Firefighter" sticker badges.

If you're looking to meet some moms and kids, and live on the southwest side of Madison, this is the group for you! The motto of the International MOMS Club, of which this is a chapter, is "Moms offering moms support." We have many social and educational opportunities for our members and our children.  Many of our children belong to playgroups and have become fast friends over the years, and we've all found it delightful to have other adults to talk to!
