Tasty Tuesdays - Taquitos

Image
In late October, four MOMS Club of SW Madison and Verona members go together to make Cream Chicken Taquitos ( http://www.annies-eats.com/ 2011/04/27/creamy-chicken- taquitos/ ). Our member Sarah B brought these as a meal to another member this summer after that family's house was damaged in a tornado. They are delicious and easy to make in large quantities and freeze. We quadrupled the recipe and we each took home 10 for a total of $7.00 in supplies for each person. The host of the event precooked the chicken so the process was speedy.  We are looking forward to a November food adventure, when one of our members Jenna is going to teach us about making artisan bread at home.

Tasty Tuesday - Homemade Chicken Tenders

Image
A few members of the MOMS Club of SW Madison & Verona gathered together this month to make one freezer meal main dish. Freezer-friendly meals can take the stress away from coming up with yet another dinner plan and help on those nights when you just don’t have time to do anything except turn on the oven. Tools: 3 shallow dishes Tongs Parchment Paper Metal Pan Ingredients: Chicken Breast Strips (you can cut your own from chicken breasts or purchase them) Flour (season with Italian Seasoning, salt, and pepper) Eggs (1 or more depending on the quantity you are making. Probably one for each pound of chicken.) Bread crumbs (we used seasoned Italian Style Bread Crumbs. ) Instructions Place seasoned flour in one dish, beaten eggs in a second dish, and bread crumbs in a third dish.  Using tongs, dip chicken (a piece at a time) first in flour, then in egg, and then in bread crumbs. Place breaded chicken in a single layer on metal pan lined with parchment.

Playgroups

Image
Playgroups are one of the best ways to get connected within our MOMS Club! Our playgroups are typically divided up by age and availability. They tend to meet every other week, but I believe a few meet more frequently. The moms and kids both love playgroups. It's a great time to connect and enjoy each other's company. Playgroups can be held at our homes, at parks or other public areas (playplaces, libraries, etc). It's a great chance for you and your children to get to know and relate to a smaller group of people. For us moms, it is so nice to talk to others going through the similar things with their child, or someone who has gone through it and has advice! There's also something really special about watching your child group up with their little group of friends. You'll get that with the whole group, but the playgroup you tend to see more often and more regularly!

Tasty Tuesday - Cupcake Cones

Image
Tasty Tuesday is ready to give you a quick, fun and easy recipe to try with your kids this week! Cupcake cones! You need: 1 box of cake mix (grab what's in your pantry or let your kiddos pick their favorite flavor) 1 cup of water 1/3 cup canola oil 3 large eggs 24 sugar cones Icing and/or decorations Directions: 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. 2. Mix the eggs, water, cake mix and oil together until well blended. We tend to use the hand mixer because my toddler loves to help me use it. 3. Put the cones in muffin tins to bake. Then, fill the cones about 2/3 full with batter. 4. Bake for about 20 minutes. 5. Let cool (if you poke a hole in the bottom of the cone it helps keep it crisp). 6. Decorate! I need to make a special note about transportation. I used a mini muffin tin and mine ended up like this. It was a wonderful comedic moment, but completely avoidable. For a dollar, you can make one of these holders. You can find the easy details h
